Developing a mutually beneficial relationship is not impossible even in romantic connections. People often wonder if it's possible to inculcate friendship in a romantic relationship. Sometimes, the overwhelming effects of a having intimate relationships destroys the very essence of friendship in a relationship. While friendship is freely shared and unselfish, people in romantic relationships tend to develop ownership and exclusivity. Sometimes it develops into an extremely restricted connection that becomes the start of an unhealthy association.
This should be the first thing that has to be avoided. The increase in demanded time and attention must raise a flag between the couple. This must be discussed and corrected before it becomes worse. But how do you maintain the sense of friendship in a relationship?
Initially, partners must not immediately treat the relationship differently. Friends can talk about anything together. You must not create a barrier in your openness with each other. The communication lines must still be open and trusting. It is by far the most important reason for keeping the friendship even when you have taken the step towards becoming more than friends. Another important factor of friendship is that it is not afraid to be candid and showy of affection. Friends are at ease in discussing problems even the most troublesome ones.
If this is the kind of relationship that you have, any problem that will come your way will not be in danger of being misinterpreted. It will allow both parties to be open and all-out in discussing the issues without fear of rejection. There are certain advantages in friendship that is not available in an intimate or romantic relationship. The latter is more complicated in terms of commitment and demands. However, it is not impossible to keep a friendship within romance; all it takes is deciding that you and partner want it.
