CLIO -- Dawn Johnson from the Genesee County Humane Society?sat down with me this morning?to talk about ways pet owners can give their pets some extra "TLC" during the coldest weather in mid-Michigan in the last few years.?

She spoke about?checking on your neighbor's dog, to having back up water bowls in and outside, to keeping pets away from heat sources to avoid burns.

She also advised to clean your pets paws when they come in from outside because of the salt that could get in between their pads.?

That salt could make them sick,?and some even have anitfreeze in them, which could be deadly if ingested by your pet.?
