Modular Development Meets Resistance | Daily Business News

WisconsinRapidsTribune tells MHProNews.com Ferkey Builders has received preliminary approval for a modular home community for people 50 and older in the central Wisconsin town of Saratoga. The 48 homes would each be sited on a half-acre with one bedroom models starting at $100,000. A resident who said the town?s ordinance requires a home to be sited on a full acre was told town officials had posted notices over the past year about the development. Town Board Chairman Terry Rickaby says the state has cut Saratoga?s shared revenue by $80,000 each year since 2006, and the town either has to raise taxes or broaden the tax base. The Saratoga Plan Commission will discuss the project and changes to the building ordinance at its meeting April 12.
