Aleratec Reveals Hardware Encrypted USB Flash Drives

Flash drives are a dime a dozen these days, and finding one is as simple as looking hard enough. But finding one with robust security features is a bit tougher. Aleratec has made that a bit easier with the introduction of the PortaStor secure 256-bit AES Encrypted USB Flash Drive, which feature encryption on a hardware level. The device provides a secure partition for confidential files, for which all information in this secure partition is encrypted using a time proven, always-on hardware encryption method known as 256-bit AES that was approved by NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) in 2001.
Aleratec's PortaStor Secure USB flash drives are available in four sizes to fit any application: 2GB, 4GB, 8GB and 16GB. Each drive can be managed without any additional software installation required. The management application is stored right on the PortaStor drive. For the greatest flexibility, users can even specify the size of the secure and non-secure partitions. Pricing ranges from $40.99 to $75.99, and these can be purchased now.
